MANILA, May 25 ------ Airfares may fall in June because of a decrease in fuel surcharge. In an advisory, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) said the fuel surcharge is dropping to Level 3 in June. It was at Level 5 in March.
The CAB said airlines wishing to impose or collect fuel surcharge for the same period must file its application. At least one airline welcomed this development. In a statement, AirAsia said the decision to lower fuel surcharge is great news for their guests. "This lower fuel surcharge is the lowest released by the CAB for 2025 so far — great news for our guests. It’s the perfect chance to plan ahead and book future travels at even lower costs. While most passengers usually book 15 to 30 days before their trip, they can actually save more by booking flights three months in advance," AirAsia Philippines Communications & Corporate Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan said.
