September 21 ------ Ahtisa Manalo opened up about her preparations for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Thailand this November. "For me, it's just being my best when I get there. My team is making sure that I am my most prepared and I am the best Ahtisa when I go to Thailand," she remarked in an interview with PeopleAsia.
The beauty queen remarked that she and her team are focusing on what they can control. "That's really all we can do. We can only fix things that we can control, so the normal things like training for pasarela, hair and makeup, I go to the gym every day, I control what I eat, and communications. I am even trying acting workshops. I think it's gonna help me by putting myself in a stressful situation 'cause I haven't done [acting] before," she relayed. She added that she is also ensuring that she's healthy ahead of the competition. "I just wanna really be fit. I am a very sickly person, so I want to be healthy and make sure that I don't get sick when I get there," she said.
In terms of communication, Ahtisa relayed that she has also been taking classes. "Those communication classes, that's me putting myself out there because I could just be reading or doing other things, but I think it's important to get used to being uncomfortable, so when I get there, like my comfort zone is much bigger," she said.
On how she plans to handle controversial questions if they come up during the pageant, she shared: "We try to anticipate whatever question they might ask, but you know, we can only practice so much, and we can only do so much, but we are practicing for that." For Ahtisa, preparation means finding balance. "I think there is a perfect balance to both that you are taking things seriously, but you are doing it lightheartedly," she pointed out.
The Miss Universe 2025, which will be the 74th edition of the pageant, is set to be held at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand, on November 21.
