Metro Manila, July 18 ------ Metro Manila's COVID-19 positivity rate increased as of July 15, with five other provinces breaching the 20% mark, the OCTA Research group said.
OCTA Research fellow Guido David said the positivity rate in the country's capital region went faster to 12.6%, higher than the 10.9% recorded on July 9. The positivity rate refers to the percentage of tested people with positive results. The World Health Organization has set a positivity rate benchmark of below 5%.
He also noted that the following five provinces logged a "very high" positivity rate:
• Aklan (31.9%)
• Laguna (22.5%)
• Nueva Ecija (22.9%)
• Pampanga (23.5%)
• Tarlac (27.5%)
"In provinces where the positivity rate is very high, i.e. above 20%, the public is strongly advised to practice necessary caution to prevent COVID infection," David said.
