Sharon Cuneta hits Harry Roque over statement on government’s COVID-19 response

July 21 ------ Sharon Cuneta railed at Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque following the latter’s statements saying the government’s coronavirus pandemic response is “working” despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Addressing Sec. Roque across her social media pages, Sharon enumerated the various problems still being encountered amid the ongoing health crisis.

“Sir, WHAT is WORKING?! We see the numbers rise every day. The hospitals are overflowing with COVID-19 patients like never before. We still don’t have enough Test Kits,” she wrote. Reiterating that the government has been mishandling the COVID-19 situation in the country, she added: “The government, Sir, has NOT been managing this health crisis effectively. Surely the health of all Filipinos.”

She likewise pointed out how the government — instead of focusing on COVID-19-related matters — decided to prioritize the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Bill, the denial of the ABS-CBN franchise, and the renaming of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, among others. “Amidst this Global Pandemic should have taken priority over things like the Anti-Terrorism Bill, the hearings and eventual denial of the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, and the idea of renaming NAIA. Now?!!!

Asking Sec. Roque to tell the truth instead of diverting the public's attention, she continued: “Our attention can no longer be diverted from COVID-19 by ANYTHING else our leaders may think up next. Please, save our people first! And for crying out loud, since so many people believe in you, please just tell us the TRUTH!” Sharon Cuneta has been vocal about her stance against the government’s actions during the pandemic especially when the House panel denied ABS-CBN of a fresh franchise. As of writing, the Philippines has already recorded a total of 67,456 COVID-19 cases with 22,465 recoveries and 1,831 deaths.
