MANILA, Philippines, September 15 ------ Fil-Japanese golf star Yuka Saso is running third in the LPGA Money List behind world No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States and No. 5 Lydia Ko of New Zealand. Saso, who broke into international stardom with her record triumph in the US Open last June, has accumulated $1,212,225 (over P60 million) in only five events played so far in the 2021 tour.
Saso’s pal and fellow 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Bianca Pagdanganan, still searching for her maiden triumph, has been making her mark in the LPGA with her powerful driving. Pagdanganan’s average driving distance of 285.021 yards is among the best in the premier ladies’ tour, second only to Dutch Anna van Dam’s 291.938.
The ICTSI-backed Saso, who sits at a career-best sixth in the Rolex world rankings, earned a whopping $1 million in winning her first major at the Olympic Club last June. She only had one other Top 10 finish so far, a fifth place standing in the Dow Great Lakes Invitational in partnership with Australian Minjee Lee.
