Pokwang prepares food for COVID-19 checkpoint officers

March 17 ------ Comedienne Pokwang is doing her part in helping the country fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic.

On Instagram on Monday, March 16, the "Banana Sundae" star posted a photo of her preparing tuna sandwiches for the members of the military and police joint task force who were deployed to man checkpoints across Metro Manila during its month-long community quarantine. "Goodmorning. Pa-tuna sandwich po para sa ating mga pulis, sundalo sa checkpoint. Next naman sa mga doctors and nurses. 'Wag mawalan ng pag asa matatapos din ito kapit lang mahal kong kababayan. Lord Jesus will cover us with His holy blood. Trust in Him lang," she wrote as caption. "Again PAALALA. MANAHIMIK KA SA BAHAY PARA SA IKABUBUTI NG MGA MAHAL MO, SA BUHAY, AT NG BAYAN," she added.

Checkpoints manned by police officials and military troops were set up in the borders of Metro Manila after the entire city was placed under community quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Currently, the Philippines is under a state of public health emergency as more Filipinos, mostly in Metro Manila, were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, bringing the number of cases to a total of 140, with 12 recorded fatalities. Globally, COVID-19 has killed over 5,000 people and infected some 140,000 others nationwide, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare it as a pandemic
