Piolo Pascual, Dimples Romana, and other Kapamilya stars to appear in TV5 programs

September 15 ------ Kapamilya stars will soon appear in several shows on TV5. According to ABS-CBN News, Brightlight Productions secured blocktime slots on TV5. The report also said the production company, via a letter to advertisers, announced the programs that will be shown on the Kapatid network.

Among the shows that will air on TV5 starring Kapamilya stars are noontime show Laugh Out Loud produced by Star Magic’s Johnny Manahan, which will feature Billy Crawford, Alex Gonzaga, K Brosas, and Wacky Kiray; Sunday Noontime Variety Show starring Piolo Pascual and Catriona Gray, also to be directed by Mr. M; and sitcom Oh My Dad, which will feature Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Sue Ramirez, Ariel Urieta and Gloria Diaz, which will be helmed by Jeffrey Jeturian. A romantic drama series titled I Got You starring Beauty Gonzales, RK Bagatsing, and Yen Santos, which will be directed by Dan Villegas, will also air on the network.

Rated Korina hosted by Korina Sanchez will also now be part of TV5. There will also be a show called Sunday Kada Kada Sunday, which will be directed by Edgar Mortiz. It can be recalled that on July 10, the House committee denied ABS-CBN a new franchise, shutting down its broadcast operations. Following the shutdown, the media giant had to lay off some of its employees.

In a previous report, Johnny Manahan (Mr. M) revealed that Star Magic has been in talks with other networks to explore opportunities for their artists. “Our artists had already been exploring opportunities in digital space. With the rejection of the franchise, cable and cyberspace became the only venues for network content. Almost immediately, instantaneously, advertising revenues began to dry up, projects canceled, contracts suspended. And with that, we began to look elsewhere for opportunities for our artists. Talks are currently underway with contacts from Channel 5 (TV5) and Channel 7 (GMA 7),” Mr. M said in a previous interview with Rappler.
