Nora Aunor accepts her first kontrabida role in a film

January 23 ------ After starring in the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Isa Pang Bahaghari, Nora Aunor is slated to do another film which reunites her with director Adolf Alix Jr. whom she has previously worked with in TV and movie projects like Whistleblower, Padre de Familia, and the short film Kinabukasan.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News last January 20, Alix revealed that Nora has signed on for the role of the villain in his latest film project Kontrabida which is a tribute to the late actress Anita Linda who passed away last year at the age of 95. The film’s lead character who plays a troubled actress is also named Anita. This will be the first time in Nora’s career that has spanned over five decades that she will be playing the role of an anti-hero.

In the exclusive interview, Alix shared how Nora said yes to the project. “Sabi niya first time niyang makakagawa ng all-out kontrabida role, dahil 'yung mga dati puro gray roles na character. Excited siya dito and I am glad she is taking the risk," Alix said.

Aside from the Nora, other veteran actors that are slated to join the cast include Bembol Roco, Rosanna Roces, and another still unnamed actress who will slap the superstar in one of the scenes. Alix also shared that the film will be based on the story by writer and poet Jerry Gracio, and will be produced by Godfather Productions.

Kontrabida is scheduled for release this year.
