NBA G League setting sights on Kai Sotto, says report

MANILA, April 23 ------ After signing Jalen Green, the NBA G League wants to go after other prospective pros, including Kai Sotto. The G League has reportedly reached out to the former Ateneo high school standout, who has been honing his game with The Skill Factory in Atlanta. "After signing prep star Jalen Green on Thursday and reportedly adding former Michigan commit Isaiah Todd, the development league has been linked to a number of high school stars, including 6-foot-9 Texas power forward Greg Brown and 7-1 big man Kai Sotto, a native of the Philippines," reported Adam Zagoria of Forbes.com. Green, whose mother traces her roots to Ilocos Sur, decided to spend his formative basketball years in the G League, instead of the conventional route through US NCAA Division 1 competition, a development that sent shockwaves in States-side basketball. “The NBA G League made a statement by raising the stakes and ante as it pertains to Jalen Green,” said Evan Daniels, national scouting director for 247Sports.com in the same Forbes report. “They will add more names. The NBA wanted this to be a viable option, but they had to raise the stakes and the investment in the high school athletes. They did that with Green, and it paid off.” Source: news.abs-cbn.com/sports
