KC Concepcion calls on government, NGOs to turn these spaces into makeshift hospitals

March 28 ------ With the country currently having a limited number of health centers to accommodate the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, actress and philanthropist KC Concepcion made a proposal to both the government and non-government organizations.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, March 24, KC Concepcion urged the government to build more health centers that could cater to the needs of the increasing number of COVID-19 patients in the country.

“More medical care & ICU-equipped centers need to be created / built as soon as possible. This should be a huge priority right now - to be able to accommodate as many patients as possible to receive better care and have a chance to heal and recover. Please Government or NGOs,” she wrote.

She added: “Even St. Lukes QC & BGC is full now — please build new medical centers for CoVid-19 patients ASAP!!!! As soon as today!!! We need to be able to house incoming patients with ICU-level equipment!!! Let’s go PHILIPPINES.”

The 34-year-old celebrity also proposed to the government leaders and NGOs to turn into makeshift hospitals some entertainment and sporting facilities such as the Mall of Asia Arena, the BGC Arts Center, and the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura in Taguig.

“To our leaders or NGOs, private sector - what if we convert MOA arena for the time being into a make shift hospital? Even that Arts Center or SM Aura Conference Center- in BGC. It’s enclosed, secure close to hospitals and the highway,” she stated.

Noting the accessibility of health workers to these places, she added: “Also apparently distant from residential areas - medical staff should be able to park and eat there, be housed in hotels nearby, etc. Just hope this is prioritized. Hospitals are turning down patients already. What’s the point if our gov’t will allow patients to be turned away?”
