Heavy-metal band Slipknot cancels Manila show

March 8 ------ American heavy metal band Slipknot has postponed their upcoming tour in Asia, including their show in Manila this month, citing “global health concerns.”

“While decisions like this are not easy, the safety and well-being of the band’s fans always come first,” the band said in a statement released Thursday on Twitter. “Furthermore, in this case, the bands and artists, crew and local employees are also equally affected, and as such, this was the only responsible decision that could be made,” they added.

Slipknot vowed to return to Asia “very soon and at such time that everyone can be ensured of the best experience possible.” The band was supposed to perform at the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City on March 29.
