Fully vaccinated people can start traveling again — CDC

April 10 ------ Fully vaccinated people can start traveling again, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention said. Those who are fully vaccinated can travel within the US without getting tested for coronavirus and quarantining, the agency said. For international travel, vaccinated people do not need to get a COVID-19 test unless the destination country requires it.

But for travelers headed into the US, vaccinated people should still get a negative COVID-19 test before boarding a flight, be tested after arrival, and must quarantine if local authorities require it, it added. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last required dose, the CDC said. All travelers are still advised to observe precautions such as wearing a face mask, washing of hands frequently, and observing social distancing.

The new guidance only applies to travel within the United States and US territories. The CDC added it would update its guidance on allowed activities for vaccinated people as more people get the shots and evidence mounts about the protection they provide.
