Driver's, student licenses of ages 17-21, 60-65 valid until Dec 31

October 31 ------ Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Saturday reminded the public that the validity of driver's license, conductor's license and student permit of those aged 17 to 21 and 60 to 65 years old that expired when they were not allowed to go out of their homes will be extended until Dec. 31, 2020. "Dahil sa inaasahang pagdagsa ng mga aplikante, ang validity ng student permit, driver’s license at conductor’s license na nag-expire noong panahon na mayroong restriction ay na-extend po hanggang December 31, 2020," Roque said in a Facebook post.

The Palace official also said no penalties will be imposed on the late renewal of the driver's license and conductor's license of those belonging to such age group. "Walang penalties sa pag-a-apply ng renewal ng driver’s license at conductor’s license na na-expire noong panahong mayroong restriction," he said. Meanwhile, the registration of motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6, 7 and 8 will be extended until Oct. 31 for those under the same age group.

Those with vehicles with plate numbers ending in 9 and 0 on the other hand have until Dec. 31 to renew their registration. "Ang mga rules na ito ay para lamang sa mga edad 17 hanggang 21 at mga 60 hanggang 65 anyos kung saan nag-expire ang kanilang mga lisensiya noong panahon na sila ay dapat na nasa bahay lamang. #DOTrPH," Roque said.

Earlier this month, the government allowed those aged 15 to 20 years old and those 61 to 65 years old to go out of their homes. “Local government units may impose a higher age limit for minors, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective jurisdictions,” Roque said. Previously, persons below 21 years old, above 60 years old, pregnant women and those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity or other health risks were required to stay at home, except for accessing essential goods and services and reporting for work in permitted industries, as part of measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
