November 19 ------ For nine days in a row, the Philippines has seen less than 2,000 daily reported cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Wednesday 1,383 more COVID-19 cases nationwide, raising the number of active cases to 29,474. There are now a total of 412,097 reported cases in the country. Most of the new cases were found in Cavite (81), Laguna (74), Batangas (71), Quezon City (69), and Rizal province (67).
Meanwhile, 95 more deaths have been confirmed, bringing the number of fatalities to 7,957. On the other hand, 143 new survivors were recorded, taking the recovery count to 374,666, which is 90.9 percent of the country’s total caseload. “Four duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, two were recovered cases,” the DOH said.
“Moreover, 18 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” it added. In total, 5,009,974 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the Philippines as of November 16, the DOH said. Confirmed COVID-19 cases globally already past 54 million, while about 1.3 million people have already died, according to the data of the World Health Organization.
