Conor McGregor's coach believes Pacquiao fight will happen

September 29 ------ Renowned mixed martial arts coach John Kavanagh is convinced that a showdown between his prizefighter Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao is bound to happen. In a conversation with Boxing ProductionsTV, Kavanagh said that both fighters have already agreed to fight each other and it is just a matter of paperwork to make it official. "I do know that it's in the works. I believe both boxers have agreed fundamentally," Kavanagh said. "Behind the scenes, there's a lot of terms and conditions and legal teams and managers that have to work out the fine details," he added. "But I believe it will happen; when exactly I'm not sure, I think it might be early next year."

Speculations of a fight between the two combat superstars sparked earlier this year when the Filipino eight-division champion signed with the management firm handling McGregor. Last month, two-division MMA world champion tweeted in Tagalog, which further ignited speculations that the Irish superstar is headed back to the boxing ring. Both camps dotted such talks about a prospective boxing match when they revealed this weekend that they are indeed under negotiations to fight in 2021. "But yeah the wheels are in motion looks like I'm going to coach boxing again," said Kavanagh.

Though an accomplished mixed martial arts fighter, McGregor only fought once in professional boxing when he locked horns with Floyd Mayweather in 2017. He lost via tenth-round technical knockout. Oddsmakers have also booked Pacquiao as a major betting favorite at -1200 while McGregor sits as a +700 underdog.
