85% of Filipinos trust Marcos’ promises in SONA 2022 — survey


August 4 ------ Around 85 percent of Filipinos have expressed trust in the promises made by President Marcos during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 25, a Tangere survey released on Tuesday, Aug. 2, revealed.


In the survey conducted from July 26 to 28 with 2,000 online Filipino respondents, high trust rating regarding the President’s promises was most pronounced in Mindanao with 93 percent. High trust ratings were also observed in Northern and Central Luzon with 87 percent and the Visayas with 84 percent. Meanwhile, Marcos received a low trust rating in Southern Luzon area, which includes the Bicol Region (78 percent) and National Capital Region (80 percent).


4 out of 5 like Marcos’ SONA

The respondents were also asked about how they felt after watching or listening to the first SONA of Marcos. Around four out of five respondents said they liked what they have watched or heard. Moreover, 51 percent of the respondents said they learned a lot about Marcos’ plans and programs. Only 27 percent said they were surprised with “some” of the President’s announcements during the SONA.


Marcos receives higher approval rating after SONA

After his SONA, the survey results showed that Marcos has improved his approval rating to 79 percent. It was only slightly lower than 74 percent among respondents 51 years old and up. The survey has a margin of error of 2.191 percent.


Tangere explained that the survey respondents proportionately represented the following areas nationwide—12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from North and Central Luzon, 22 percent from South Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
