Weapons found in shipping container

Thirty-seven revolvers, 1,280 rounds of ammunition, and a silencer from a shipping container were seized by Indian police officers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

Authorities said that the weapons were hidden in 27 barrels of grease, and bound for a local criminal gang. The suspect container came from either Singapore or Dubai.

Police officials said that the incident illustrated how easily illicit weapons and supplies could be smuggled around the world. Containers are an easy target since only between 1-3% are checked worldwide.
