One of ABS-CBN's newest and most exciting shows is "Kyrstala," which started airing on October 11. ABS-CBN bills it as the first-ever superserye, which has a big budget and a great cast headed by television drama icon, Judy Ann Santos.
"Kyrstala" is a thrilling combination of ABS-CBN's proven teleserye touch, classic figures in Filipino mythology and the comic book action-adventure genre made popular by such box-office hits as "Spider-man" and "X-Men."
Film and television director Rory Quintos heads a quartet of experienced directors, including Mae Cruz, Trina Dayrit and Nuel Naval, in directing "Kyrstala."
Direk Rory has had the chance to direct Judy Ann in the teleserye, "Esperanza," in 1999. "With this new project, we aim higher and bigger than before," said Direk Rory.
"What we really hope to do is entertain, to provided our viewers with a higher level of entertainment than what they have come to expect from ABS-CBN, which has consistently raised the standards for televised drama with its teleserye projects," said Direk Mae.
Direk Rory also cited DigitalDodge, the 3D effects that give "Kyrstala" its inimitable look. DigitalDodge is ran by award-winning visual effects artist Dodge Ledesma. "It's just an example of the kind of support ABS-CBN management has been giving us. It's very heartening," she said.
"Our goal is to change the landscape of Philippine soaps," Direk Nuel, for his part, declared.
