Sto. Tomas said the DOLE seeks to reform labor market policies geared at enabling the Filipino workers meet the requirements of the global economy while ensuring that the workers receive their just share of the benefits of globalization.

She said the reforms include modernizing the labor market information system to ensure the right matching of jobs and skills.

The DOLE in this regard targets to set up alternative job search devices like the SMS technology especially in areas where internet facilities are not available.

The Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) will also be strengthened to improve their delivery of employment services such as career guidance and counseling, job referral and matching, and training and livelihood assistance.

For the next six years, the DOLE will prioritize assistance to the informal sector and underprivileged workers.

Demonstration projects will be pilot-tested in selected communities where a convergence of livelihood projects will be pursued to create better impact on the lives of the vulnerable workers.
